3 Secrets to Weight Loss




Happy Maycember to you (IYKYK... or check it out here for a laugh). In this busy month of sports, end of school year events, start of summer socializing, it can be tough to make time for yourself and your goals.

Well I have 3 secrets to tell you about losing weight:

SECRET #1:

In the past, I often would say "when things settle down" or "once I get though X" I will focus on my weight loss. I'm here to tell you a secret I'm pretty sure you already know... things don't ever settle down. There's never "a good time" to start. Sometimes you simply need to start, even if it seems like it's not the best time.

SECRET #2:

What might seem like the worst, or most inconvenient time to focus on weight loss is ACTUALLY THE BEST TIME! What? How so?

Because life doesn't happen in a vacuum so neither does weight loss. Weight loss will only be lasting and permanent if you make it fit into your life. I used to hide from the world when I was on one my extreme, ultra-restrictive diets. Did I lose a ton of weight? Sure, but as soon as I rejoined society, started socializing again, the weight would slowly creep back on.

SECRET #3:

You CAN TOTALLY lose weight and live the life you want. In fact, that is the best way to do it because it's actually lasting (see secret #2). Might it be a bit slower that the way you dieted in the past? Sure. Might you have some moments of discomfort? Of course.

But here's the thing. If you want to lose weight, I'm guessing you feel some discomfort by not losing weight. Maybe when you step on the scale, maybe after a super indulgent weekend. For me, that was always accompanied by feelings of shame, doubt, frustration, failure...

What if instead you CHOOSE the discomfort that might come by actively deciding to eat a certain way, to live within the boundaries you set for yourself.. If you're going to feel some discomfort either way, why not choose the way that ultimately brings you feelings of pride, accomplishment confidence... the way that gets you to your goal!
